Cloud with Grid Computing Architecture

Posted on March 25th, 2011 in Announcement, Industry News | No Comments »

CA 3Tera Applogic, is some of the new thing I recently look into it. The main reason I had a look on this are due to the long development and go to market cycle that will need to go through no matter which hypervisor or virtualziation software we choose to go today. Heavy development cost and time always impact the buy in for the cloud solution. With CA 3tera applogic, you will able to perform application stack deployment with drag & drop, copy & paste, or draw a line to interconnect any of the back end system without heavy customization configuration. I had been approach by the local CA representative and run through the demo, and I was shocked and impressed with how the entire thing just work.

1st VirtualizeTips Magazine Released

Posted on February 25th, 2011 in Announcement, Industry News, Virtualization | No Comments »

I saw many kind of Open Source magazine for the past and I can remember one called “MyOSS magazine” in Malaysia but too bad it’s not last long due to certain reason.

Few day back, I found a brand new Virtualization related Magazine – VirtualizeTips Magazine from Brian and Mike. Good jobs!

This is a project that I’ve been working on for a couple of months now and finally was able to bring it together. My dream for this is to produce something monthly if possible. I like the magazine format because it offers something different than just reading RSS feeds and blog posts. For the people that travel or use iPads or other tablets I hope this gives you something else of interest to read.

Initially the focus of the magazine will be heavily focused around VMware technology but as time passes I hope to be able to incorporate other Virtualization topics into the mix. The content will include interviews, how-to articles, reviews and community based topics.

This edition has articles that cover HP BladeSystem Matrix, Designing with VAAI, new VMware certifications, storage and networking articles and Kendrick Colemans home lab and several other topics.

The recent release firmware for Cisco UCS version 1.4 had enabled the support of new blade B230M1 and C series rack mount server integration allow server management from UCS manager. This is a big major changes to the IT market today. Now you will enjoy service profile functionality similar to blade system in Cisco UCS even though if you choose to deploy a rack mount base solution. Not every environment will go with blade system only, therefore Cisco UCS C series rack mount solution integrate with UCS manager is important. It is interesting to monitor the respond from others server vendor such as HP, IBM, DELL, SUN and etc  for this major improvement.

Here is the sample screen shot

Cisco offer R series Rack for UCS

Posted on December 22nd, 2010 in Announcement, Data Center, Industry News, Server | No Comments »

This morning when I woke up, I receive an email from my counterpart regarding Cisco UCS R-Series. At first, I I thought it was just another model of blade or rack mount system Cisco had added to their product line. Once I open up the official link and found that is nothing related to the blade or rack mount base UCS machines. Is a RACK!!!! after years of Cisco UCS come into the market, there had been number of users asking why Cisco UCS does not come with their own rack? Finally, I think Cisco has the answer to the customers who had asked the similar question before. Not a bad idea to add the R series as part of the offering, which may looks cool to deploy the full set of UCS & Cisco solutions in Cisco Rack itself now.

Who is Compellent? May not be famous in our country, but it been 1 of the best SAN solution out there is Others region. They had also participate in the latest VMware vforum 2010 event through the local distributor this year in Kuala Lumpur. Since dell lost the bid to HP for taking over 3PAR Storage solution, many of us had predicted the next move DELL could target would be Compellent. Not a bad choice I will say as DELL do need visionary technology team who can drive the enterprise storage business for them in the long run.
