I had been attended a round table workshop locally which organized by IDC and Novell 2 days ago. In the workshop, we had open discussion about the cloud computing regards Private or Public Cloud computing in the future for our local market. There had been some interesting discussions as we shared our experiences among each other who attended the workshop.

I found that the adoption rate for cloud computing for our local market is really minimal.  Most of them are still worry or concern over the cloud computing concept. I do agree with some of the important points been brought up regarding the inconsistent and expensive bandwidth in Malaysia which always be the major show stopper for us to consider about public cloud computing. They were also discussed about the security concerns if public cloud had been considered to be part of the companies infrastructure move forward.

Beside the external cloud, I believe the attendants should really consider to build the private cloud within their corporate network. This will be the easiest way for them to adapt and realize the benefit of having a internal cloud solution to manage the IT infrastructure and resources to support the business operation.  This will always be a good start for them to look into cloud computing.
