Look at the this:
The VCP (VMware Certified Professional) certification getting the most high paid compare to other such as A+, CCEA, RHCE, RHCT, MCSE, MCP, MCA, and Server+.
Basically this is an average salary of jobs based on indeed.com
Do you think you can get such high paid in Malaysia? I have 2 friend that getting their VCP in Malaysia this year and I don’t think they get more than Ringgit Malaysia 10K per month. This amount $12300/12=$10250 per month is far away. In fact, having a VCP certificate does not mean they know everything about VMware, sometimes I would said working experience is much more important than certificate. It’s a just a paper!
Again can I assume Malaysia IT engineer still under pay? What do you think?

that seems to be normal all the while for malaysia mostly. again for what you had pointed out about the VCP, I will not imagine how good if the person only certify on the VCP. The VCP is the real foundation. People who attended the Install and configure on Virtual Infrastructure then they go for the certification. When come to practical, most of the time it doesn’t really work which lack of experience and environment for them to learn.
I don’t think the salary surveys are a very good measure of what people actually make. first off - it depends pretty heavily on where you live. In Calfornia or in New York City the job usually pay 30-40% more, but the cost of living is 40% more than in Arizona where I live. I think that that like you said, experience means much more than just certifications alone.
Second point - most people don’t just have a vcp, they also have a MCP, MCSE, Citrix CCA, etc. So it’s very hard to judge what certification justified their pay.
I think certifications are a good way for human resources to flag your resume as you are qualified and send you on for further review. Personally I like studying for tests just because it exposes me to learning different ways of doing things that I might have thought of on my own, but I have never in my career received a promotion or monetary reward for getting certified.
I think the VCDX is going to be a much more valuable certification in the long run,
